Team Resilience and Effectiveness Programme

Manage pressure at work
Build resilient teams
Comply with HSE legislation

Many other organisations have sound, good practice HR policies and guidelines in place to support employee health. However, they have recognised that if they are to make a significant impact on employee well-being they need to go beyond policies and listen to employees, identify what is causing pressure and what changes may be desired. Then together develop and implement focused, structured, meaningful interventions and action plans that truly meet business and individual needs.

Programme Objective

  • To manage psychological wellbeing in a coherent and highly effective way
  • To identify the sources of pressure within a team using an assessment tool based on HSE Management Standards
  • To address any issues highlighted with the use of action planning tools
  • To build effective and resilient teams

Why should teams participate?

Under UK law employers have a legal duty of care to ensure their employees are not harmed by work related stress. A risk assessment approach, based on HSE Management Standards, is the proven method for addressing the pressure hot spots within both a team and organisation. There are serious implications if a team ignores the everyday pressures they may face, both at work and also personally. Without the opportunity for teams to explore the causes of the pressures they face, issues can go unresolved and may cause resentment and rumour leading to breakdown in team relationships & reduced performance

How does the programme work?

A simple three step programme

  • Whole team, including manager, completes confidential on line assessment tool.
  • Aggregate results presented to manager and  format of team session discussed
  • Externally facilitated 3 hour full team meeting, including manager, to share aggregate report, identify areas of greatest pressure within the team and using solution focussed tools agree ways of working that are within the team’s control to minimise pressure and maximise team support & performance.

Does it work?

Employees of an organisation using a similar approach report:

  • Improved focus on critical business needs and the elimination of low value work
  • Enhanced individual commitment, discretionary effort and team performance
  • Improved management practices
  • Enhanced recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Reduced absenteeism
