Golf and mental health

It is estimated that 1 in 6 people in the past week experienced a common mental health problem in the UK. Applying this statistic to golf club members – for every Saturday competition involving around 120 people, 20 people will have experienced a mental health problem that week

Our Online Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course which teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis.

The course provides

  • A deeper understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect people’s wellbeing, including your own.
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues.
  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress.
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgmental listening.
  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to appropriate support.

Learning takes place across four manageable 2 hour sessions. Through a mix of group activities, presentations and discussions, each session is built around a Mental Health First Aid action plan.
